APOSTLE KWADWO SAFO APPEALS FOR GOVERNMENT SUPPORT

September 25, 2017
Apostle Safo and GCCI delegation

Accra, Feb. 14, GNA - Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo on Wednesday appealed to the government to support his technology centre to enable him to create jobs for the people, especially the youth. He said support from the government would enable him to help more youth people, including university students and graduates who had been making use of the practical training at his centre to realise their potential in life. Apostle Safo made this appealed during a visit to his Technology Centre at Gomoa-Mpota , a few kilometers away from the Winneba junction in the Central Region, by members of the Ghana Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI).

I did not seek any reward for these initiatives except to help my fellow Ghanaians and prove to the world that the black man is also capable of great technological exploits, he said.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Apostle Safo mentioned that he was giving free training to 550 students from universities, polytechnics and Senior High Schools across the country.

In the electrical section, a number of items were being designed, including a power alternator and some cars on exhibition. There was also a television set that could be switched on and off with clap of one's hand.

Apostle Safo indicated that the centre had embraced commercial automobile production in an ambitious effort to venture into an industry dominated by global economic giants.

He said he had already carried out a successful experiment in the manufacture of a car that had no engine but moved only with the aid of solar-powered battery.

"The purpose of such a vehicle would be to help the country save fuel, which could be used to power big trucks and for other industrial purposes", he explained.

Since its establishment in 1971, the Kristo Asafo Mission, under the leadership of Apostle Dr. Safo, has undertaken what is arguably the largest philanthropic campaign in the country, making huge donations in cash and in kind to educational institutions, orphanages and other needy institutions.

Mr Seth Adjei Baah, President of GCCI who spoke to the Ghana News Agency during the visit, said the purpose of the trip was to help promote Apostle Safo's Technology Centre on the world market. He called on Ghanaians to purchase and protect locally manufactured goods

They were given medications while those with complications were referred to the appropriate health centres for further treatment.

The exercise is part of activities being organised as a prelude to the 36th Annual Technology Exhibition by the KAN scheduled for Sunday, January 1, 2017, at Awoshie in Accra.

CHARGES

In an interview with the Daily Graphic, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of OKS Medical Consult, Dr Kwabena Safo, said participants was encouraging.

According to him, the collaboration between OKS Medical Consult and the Sole Health and Wellness Centre was meant to provide quality health screening to the residents at subsidised cost.

"We are doing this so that a lot of people can get screened. We realised that the actual cost that they are supposed to bear when they visit the health centres is way beyond them so we have to reduce that to very low rates," he said.

Dr Safo said the main purpose of the exercise was to screen, detect cases and if possible refer patients to the appropriate health centres, adding that a lot of people usually found it difficult to go for health screening on their own.

He expressed the hope that by next year a lot of sponsors would brought on board in order to make the entire exercise free.

He admonished Ghanaians to take precautionary measures and go for periodic health screening in order to detect diseases which might be hidden in their bodies for early treatment.

KEEP FIT EXERCISE

Earlier in the morning, the CEO of Sole Health and Wellness Centre, Oheneba Ntim Barimah, also held a keep fit exercise with some residents on the Great ASASS Park.

Students from Kristo Asafo Union showcaing products at the Kantanka show in Accra

The third edition of the Kristo Asafo Students Union (KASU) annual inter-regional technology exhibition was held in Accra on Wednesday to showcase some of the extraordinary technological innovations designed by the students of the Apostle Safo School of Arts and Sciences.

The fair, which was  opened to the public for the first time, was aimed at displaying innovative technologies designed specifically to boost the operations of industries and businesses.

About 30 youth trained by the Founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission (KAM) Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, were given the platform to parade their inventions that ranged from military aimoured vehicles, standing fans, smal - size helicopters, among other items. Some of the inventions displayed had the capability to function in an awesome way. Forinstance, one of the armoured vehicles had the ability to move and stop by just a phone call. The engine was connected to a mobile phone. At the end of  the fair, three of the students with the best technological innovations were selected to participate in this year's Kristo Asafo Mission Technology Exibition slated for January 1, 2017.

This year's edition of the youth fair was on the theme: Youth in technology, a virtual tool for socio-economic development.

Expose the youth to technology

In his welcome address, the Vice-President of KASU, Nana Kwame Fosu Safo, said the rationale behind the technology exhibition was to give the youth the platform to showcase some of their inventions. "KASU initiated this programme to enable our youth to follow the steps of the founder and leader, Apostle Safo. They will be given the opportunity to display them at the annual technology fair," he said.

Nana Safo said over the past years plans had been put in place to train and prepare the youth to also come up with modern technologies that could help develop Ghana. "Apostle Safo has taken it upon himself to help train the younger generation to develop their creative minds in coming up with inventions that can help Ghana attain all its development goals," he said. He said all the youth who participated in the exhibition were given proper training, adding that the innovations the displayed were designed by themselves.

"They came up with those inventions because they had been trained properly," he noted.

In order for Ghana to rub shoulders with the western world, he said there was the need for the youth to be given the platform and the needed training in the area of technological innovations.

"We must put in place a mechanism where our youth can think in broad terms and design modern technologies that will help better our country. Already, Apostle Safo is training more youth and he has opened the door for others to follow," Nana Safo added.

AFRICAN RELIGIOUS BODY COMMENDS APOSTLE SAFO

September 18, 2017
African Religious body

Founder and Chief Officer (CEO) of the Kantanka Group of Companies, Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo, has expressed disappointment in successive governments for failing to extend a hand support for his technological innovations. He said even though governments had over the years publicly pledged their support and desire to promote the products of the company, those pledges had not been translated into action. "The country has got what it takes to be sufficient and independent without resting on the shoulder of foreign neighbours to develop," he said.

He made the remarks when delegates from the Ecclesiastical Bishops and Leaders Conference for Africa (EBLCA) paid a visit to the Kantanka Group of Companies at Gomoa Mpota in the Central Region last Wednesday.

EBLCA is a non-denominational and non-discriminatory conference of ministries of the Gospel and church leaders with a common faith and belief to build a fortified ecclesiastical front for Africa.

Dr. Safo is known for his contribution to technological innovations.

DETERMINED TO SUCCEED

Apostle Safo said, "people tell us that we are wasting our time because we wont get anywhere, but we pay no attention to them. We rather make sure that we prove them wrong by meeting the targets that we set for ourselves."

"The whites believed in themselves and got to where they are now. They are not different from us." he added.

The General Secretary of Kantanka Group of Companies, Mr Owusu Badu, said one major challenge that confronted Great Kosa Automobile company Limited was lack of patronage and promotion of its locally manufactured vehicles.

He said in some countries, the governments provided support to the growth of their automobile industries. But Ghana, he said, "we've spoken a lot but no avail, they always give promises but nothing is done."

"We await the Ghana Standard Board (GSB) and the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) to give us permit with serial numbers and other processing documents to sell our products on the market," he added.

OTHER PERSPECTIVE

The Presiding Prelate of EBCLA, Bishop Dr James Obeng Nyantakyi , said it was the intention of church to honour him with a Humanitarian award in the upcoming global excellence award in African Mission for his frantic efforts towards the growth of Africa.

He said the church would link up with him by bringing individuals and students from East Africa and elsewhere to have first-hand information on practical work aside the theoretical aspect.

Professor Tony Karbo, the Vice Chancellor of the Kayiwa International University in Kenya, expressed worry about the inability of the successive governments to support Great Kosa Automobile Company Limited.

He said in some countries, projects such as that of Dr Apostle Safo attracted financial assisstance from their governments in order to boost the automobile industry and economy.

For his part, the Vice Presiding Prelate of East Africa EBLCA, Bishop Dr Simeon Oyugi, said, *if Africa has people like Apostle Safo, Africa will move forward.
